What is the best way to repair the iPhone touch ID does not work?

According to our experience, there are several reasons, in addition to the Touch ID unrecognized, and home button or finger dirty reasons, 80% of the reason is because the home button flex cable was broken! So, today, vip pro shop team will tell you how to restore the iPhone touch ID via repairing iPhone home button flex cable!




Firstly, we should know what is touch ID. Touch ID is iPhone fingerprint feature. The feature has fingerprint identity sensor technology. You can use it to unlock your iPhone. Also, more and more Apps can use Touch ID to unlock, such as Apple pay.

Let's see how restore the iPhone touch ID by repairing home button flex cable.

1. Test the iPhone touch ID. After the screen is locked, it can't unlock with fingerprints, it can only enter the password unlock. However, when we press the iPhone home button, the returning function is normal. Now we can be sure that the touch ID doesn't work.

2. Disassemble the iPhone with phone opening tools, check the logic board connector J2118 for moldy and dry Joint, all is fine. Now, we use multimeter to measure the resistance between J2118 and grounding, the data is also normal.

3. Remove Home touch sensor assembly and check Home button Flex Cable, we found a marked rupture on the flex cable.  Now we can judge that the Touch ID fault is caused by a broken flexible cable circuit.

4. Pry the back plate and then cut the ruptured part from the flex cable. Carefully scrape out the flex cable circuit; please be careful not to cut off the circuit.

5. Apply some BGA solder paste to the flexible cable, and then use phone soldering station to solder tins on it. After cooling, clean it with PCB cleaner. Meanwhile, prepare a new home touch sensor assembly.

6. Pry the back panel of the new Home Touch sensor assembly, and cut a length of flex cable from new home touch sensor assembly. In this step, you can adjust the length of the cutting cable. Fixed new cut cable with double-sided adhesive. Then, scrape off the newly cut flex cable. Be careful not to cut off the circuit.



7. Apply some BGA solder paste on newly cut flex cable, and then use soldering station to solder tins and clean it. Cut off the extra part of the new flex cable, and then use glue to attach two cables carefully, please note the alignment position.

8. Once the cable is fixed, use the soldering iron to apply some BGA solder paste and welding soft cable. After cooling, clean it with PCB cleaner. Remember to check the circuit for bridging and disturbed solder.

9. Put Home Touch Sensor Assembly mounted back to iPhone screen, and test the touch ID function, not the touch ID can be used. After the test, remove the display component and remove the home touch sensor assembly. Prepare another cable. Then paste the cable into the previous bonding section. In order to further fixed flexible cables, soldering iron is used. Then carefully use the glue to fix the back plate.



Finally, assemble the iPhone, boot it and test it, the touch ID function is back to normal. The problem has been solved!
